What is Telepractice?

Telepractice is a 1-on-1 speech therapy session using a computer. There is no need to be in the same room, or even in the same city! You can receive the same therapy services in the comfort of your home.

What Do You Need for Telepractice?

There are only a few crucial components for speech therapy telepractice:

  1. A computer or tablet with a camera: you should be able to see and hear the screen. Try repositioning the camera or using a headset if you are having difficulty. Although you can use your smartphone, it is not recommended as the screen is too small which will make it challenging to participate during certain therapeutic activities.

  2. Internet access: having access to high-speed internet connection is important, without it there may be delays in audio or video.

  3. Motivation: speech therapy online will be the same as a session in-person, which means be ready to work and find a quiet space in your home free of distractions.

How to Get Started

  1. Call (716) 817-8855 to schedule an appointment! We provide speech therapy Monday-Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.

  2. Together, we will determine insurance eligibility. Due to the pandemic, many commercial insurance plans are waiving copayments and deductibles for telehealth services. Contact member services at your insurance plan for more information. If your plan is not reimbursing telehealth at this time, we have affordable private pay options and flexible payment plans to assist you.

  3. Before your first appointment, we will send you a secure link to access our “virtual waiting room.” Nothing to download - just open the link in your internet browser! Your session will begin at the scheduled appointment time. You can then use that link to access any future therapy sessions.

That’s it! It really is that simple. Are you interested in trying telepractice? There is only one way to know if telehealth is right for you - and that’s by scheduling an appointment. Neuro Speech Solutions is a Buffalo based private practice that specializes in speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders caused by stroke, brain injury, or neurologic diseases such as Parkinson’s disease or Dementia. We would love to help you on your journey to recovery!

A NOTE ON PRIVACY

Neuro Speech Solutions uses a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform (doxy.me) that is simple to use. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. We assure you that the session is secure and can only be accessed by the speech-language pathologist. Sessions are never recorded.
